Sending 'KF COVID-19 Prevention Kit'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Korea Foundation (KF) announced on the 22nd that it will deliver the 'KF COVID19 Survival Box,' including 50,000 KF masks, to 514 members of the U.S. Peace Corps who volunteered in the past to improve education and healthcare in Korea.
Since 2008, KF has annually invited about 50 U.S. Peace Corps members and their families to Korea for a revisit program showcasing Korea's changed status. This year, due to the spread of COVID-19, instead of inviting them to visit, KF planned to send the 'KF COVID19 Survival Box' to wish for the health of the volunteers.
The kit contains 100 KF80/94 masks, antibacterial gloves, mask straps, silver spoons, traditional fans, coffee mix, red ginseng candy, a kit bag, and other COVID-19 prevention items and Korean-related souvenirs. A booklet with messages from Korean citizens to the U.S. Peace Corps members, collected via Instagram, is also included. The packaged kits will be individually sent to the volunteers via international express mail through the post office.
A KF official stated, "The U.S. Peace Corps willingly came to Korea during difficult times in the past to help with healthcare, quarantine, and educational development," adding, "We want to convey to the volunteers that Korea has not forgotten its gratitude during these challenging times of COVID-19."
