[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] National disabled athletes, candidates, and rookie players will sequentially resume training at the Icheon Training Center starting from the 22nd.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism supported training such as physical fitness, psychological, and game analysis videos for athletes in nine sports including swimming, athletics (including wheelchair racing), and table tennis through the Korea Paralympic Committee and the Korea Institute of Sport Science, so that athletes participating in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics who could not enter the Icheon Training Center due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 could maintain their performance.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Paralympic Committee will implement measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during this Icheon Training Center residency training and off-site training period, including ▲ COVID-19 testing for coaches and athletes before resuming training ▲ biweekly disinfection of the Icheon Training Center ▲ designation of disinfection managers for each off-site training sport. Additionally, after training resumes, they plan to comprehensively inspect compliance with quarantine guidelines and training conditions at the Icheon Training Center and off-site training locations by sport.
Non-disabled national athletes will begin training on November 1st, with 585 athletes from 17 sports training at the Jincheon National Training Center and the Chungju Rowing Stadium, among other locations.
