[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Yoon Young-sun, Executive Director of Lotte Information & Communication (photo), has been appointed as the head of the in-house task force (TF) that will play a key role in Lotte Group's big data roadmap.

According to the business community on the 21st, Lotte Group's Distribution BU launched a data governance TF directly under Vice Chairman Kang Hee-tae on the 1st of this month, and recently appointed Yoon Young-sun, Executive Director of Lotte Information & Communication who moved to Lotte Shopping, as the TF leader and CDO (Chief Data Officer). The TF includes about 10 data and AI experts from major Lotte distribution affiliates, led by Executive Director Yoon.

Born in 1974, Executive Director Yoon majored in Mathematics at Seoul National University and earned his master's and doctoral degrees in Mathematics from Yale University in the United States. Since 2015, he worked as the head of the big data analysis team at KT, and in 2018, he joined Lotte Information & Communication as the head of the AI Biz Center division, establishing his connection with Lotte. Since 2019, he has been leading the big data business division at Lotte Information & Communication.

Meanwhile, the Data and Artificial Intelligence TF will create Lotte Group's data business roadmap over the next year, collect and analyze data across distribution, logistics, and manufacturing sectors, and build related systems. The data analysis results are expected to be utilized to upgrade the service of Lotte Group's integrated online mall 'Lotte ON'. Lotte ON is strengthening its hyper-personalization capabilities by analyzing consumer purchase data to recommend products.
