[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] An employee at a Gwangju franchise of the tire specialist company 'Tire Bank' is causing controversy after deliberately damaging the tire wheels of a customer's vehicle who came to have their tires replaced, then recommending a wheel replacement.
On the 21st, a post titled "Reporting Tire Bank" was uploaded on an automotive-related internet community, along with a black box video, claiming to have suffered damages at a Tire Bank franchise.
According to the post, the author was advised to replace the wheels due to damage while replacing four tires at a Tire Bank franchise in Gwangju the previous day. However, after reviewing the black box footage, they claimed to have caught the employee deliberately damaging the wheels.
The black box video posted by the author on the community actually showed a Tire Bank franchise employee inserting a wrench into the customer's vehicle tire wheel and bending it with force.

Although the post was removed from the board for mentioning the company name, Tire Bank eventually issued an official apology.
In a statement that day, Tire Bank said, "The headquarters is verifying the facts regarding this matter," and "If confirmed to be true, we will immediately terminate the franchise contract with the business owner involved and compensate the affected customer."
Later, Tire Bank stated, "The investigation confirmed that the franchise owner deliberately damaged the customer's tire wheels for additional profit, and the franchise contract with the said franchise was promptly terminated."
On the same day, the author filed a complaint with the Gwangju Seobu Police Station against the business owner and the employee involved.
Tire Bank promised, "If proper consumer damage compensation is not carried out by the business owner, the headquarters will proceed with an apology and compensation."
Meanwhile, following the post, similar experiences have flooded internet community boards, escalating the controversy.
