[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital organized an event to invigorate the medical staff who are working hard on the front lines of COVID-19.
On the 21st, according to Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Shin Myung-geun), the Nursing Department (Head Bong Young-sook) recently held the ‘One Heart One Mind Festival’ to encourage and support not only nurses but also medical staff and employees in celebration of this year’s ‘International Year of the Nurse.’
Every October, the hospital has conducted the ‘Angel’s Day’ program focused on medical volunteer service for customers, but this year, considering the pandemic situation, the event was arranged as a space for medical staff dedicated to the front lines of COVID-19.
The event, held in the hospital’s ‘Healing Forest’ front yard, was conducted under the theme ‘Nursing, Keeping Us Healthy.’
During lunchtime, an ‘Encouragement Meal’ with food and beverages was served, and support packages filled with generous treats were also prepared.
Considering social distancing, tables and other seating were arranged at a certain distance, and attendance times were allocated by department to avoid crowding.
The venue also featured a photo zone where colleagues could leave memories, as well as game zones with darts, tuho (arrow throwing), and shoe throwing, which were popular.
Director Shin Myung-geun wore an apron and said, “For a lively workplace, I will serve you some wonderful snacks,” handing out warm freshly popped popcorn, bringing smiles to everyone.
Participants also comforted each other and took part in an event walking together through the ‘Healing Forest.’
About 400 nurses, medical staff, and administrative employees participated that day, enjoying a ‘brief rest’ to recharge and pledging to provide the best medical service.
Nurse Lee Ha-hyun said, “I had a meaningful time relieving work stress and fostering harmony with colleagues,” adding, “With strong encouragement and a pleasant break, I gained the strength to care for patients more energetically.”
Nursing Department Head Bong Young-sook said, “This year is the ‘International Year of the Nurse’ designated by the World Health Organization {WHO}, so we originally planned various programs, but considering the COVID-19 situation, we changed the direction of the event,” and added, “The happiness of hospital members will soon lead to even greater customer satisfaction service.”
