Dongdaemun-gu Supports Psychiatric Treatment Costs for Employees Experiencing Psychological Anxiety and Emotional Labor... Creating a Vibrant Work Culture with Civil Service Staff Rest Areas and the Hyu(休) Program to Provide Quality Civil Services

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) is drawing attention for creating a healthy organizational culture that balances work and life through a mental health care program for employees experiencing psychological anxiety and ongoing emotional labor difficulties during civil complaint handling.
The district supports mental health psychiatric counseling and examination costs up to 100,000 KRW per person to allow civil complaint office workers and grievance/on-site complaint staff to regularly check their stress levels and care for their mental health.
This support was established to relieve the increasing mental and physical stress of employees caused by the growing variety of civil complaint demands, repetitive malicious complaints, and COVID-19 response efforts.
Before visiting a hospital, employees can assess depression, anxiety disorders, stress, and alcohol addiction through an online mental health self-diagnosis survey, check their current mental health status, and receive active counseling and treatment based on the diagnosis results.
Mayor You, who holds the district philosophy that happy employees lead to happy residents, frequently visits the comprehensive civil complaint office on the first floor of the district office to encourage staff and listen attentively to their difficulties.
Additionally, the district holds regular meetings with civil complaint staff working on the administrative front lines to encourage their efforts, actively reflect their suggestions, improve the civil complaint office environment, and strive to foster a happy civil complaint office culture.
You Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We are generously supporting mental health care programs, 휴 (休) programs, and civil complaint staff lounges to care for employees’ mental health who have long suffered from emotional labor, receiving positive responses from staff. Since happy employees provide high-quality civil complaint services, we will continue to do our best to create a pleasant civil complaint office environment and a vibrant workplace culture.”
