LG Hausys Receives Prime Minister's Commendation at Fire Industry Awards

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] LG Hausys received the Prime Minister's Commendation in the Industrial Technology category at the 12th Fire Industry Awards announced by the National Fire Agency on the 21st for its ‘LG Z:IN (LG Ji-in) Semi-Noncombustible Sheet’.

Hosted by the National Fire Agency and organized by the Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute (KFI), the ‘Fire Industry Awards’ recognize and reward outstanding technicians and companies (organizations) who have contributed to research, development, and commercialization of advanced technologies, products, and methods in the fire industry, thereby promoting the development of the fire industry.

The ‘LG Ji-in Semi-Noncombustible Sheet’ differs from ordinary wallpapers that use paper or PVC (polyvinyl chloride) by applying a base layer made of semi-noncombustible material. This prevents fire from spreading easily and reduces the emission of harmful substances during a fire, earning the product a semi-noncombustible performance certificate from the Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute.

Compared to existing wall finishing materials such as paints or stone that exceed semi-noncombustible standards, it requires less installation time and can reduce costs by 20 to 50%, contributing to enhancing fire safety in buildings as well as laying the foundation for the activation of semi-noncombustible materials, which was recognized for its excellence.

Additionally, the product was highly evaluated from the perspective of win-win cooperation as it was launched through LG Hausys’ research and development (R&D) and production technology of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Building on this award, LG Hausys plans to increase the supply of ‘LG Ji-in Semi-Noncombustible Sheet’ as wall materials for multi-use facilities such as postpartum care centers, goshiwon (small dormitory rooms), and rest restaurants, where the installation of noncombustible or semi-noncombustible interior finishing materials is mandatory due to high risks of human and property damage in case of fire.

Park Gwi-bong, Executive Director of LG Hausys Decorative Materials Division, said, "It is especially meaningful to receive recognition for the excellence of the LG Ji-in Semi-Noncombustible Sheet product from the National Fire Agency, which is responsible for fire safety," adding, "We will continue to strive to develop products that can enhance fire safety in buildings."
