Jin Joong-kwon: "Democratic Party Ousts Geum Tae-seop and Chooses Kim Nam-guk... Reveals Their Level" Former Dongyang University Professor Jin Joong-kwon Photo by Yonhap News

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Nam-guk, who called former lawmaker Geum Tae-seop, who left the Democratic Party on the 21st, a "selfish migratory bird," saying, "You can see the level of the Democratic Party."

On the same day, Jin posted on his Facebook, "The Democratic Party kicked out Geum Tae-seop and chose Kim Nam-guk," he said.

Earlier that day, lawmaker Kim pointed out on his Facebook, "It was strange from the start that former lawmaker Geum criticized the civil lawsuit by lawmaker Kim Yong-min against Professor Jin Joong-kwon (defamation damages for Jin, who called him Cho Kuk's lackey) in an unrelated way," adding, "Looking back now, it seems he was trying to find a reason to quarrel with the intention of leaving the party."

He also criticized, "(Former lawmaker Geum) advocates strengthening communication and discussion within the party, but I don't know why he doesn't make efforts to share thoughts and unite with party members," adding, "He only gives interviews to conservative media, posts on Facebook, and unilaterally voices his own claims."

Regarding this, former professor Jin said, "The Democratic Party probably wants to belittle the significance of Geum Tae-seop's departure," adding, "There are people like Kim Nam-guk who curse him as a 'migratory bird,' and Moon Jae-in fans say, 'It's refreshing that a painful thorn has been removed.'"

He said, "The significance of Geum Tae-seop's departure lies in the proof that the Democratic Party has degenerated into a group where rational communication is impossible," and "Geum Tae-seop's departure shows that the Democratic Party is no longer a liberal party."

He added, "(The Democratic Party) sees distinguishing friend from foe as the essence of politics, does not respect minorities, pushes through with the power of the majority, and mobilizes the masses through propaganda and agitation under the direct connection between the masses and the leader," adding, "The Moon Jae-in administration is not the Kim Dae-jung or Roh Moo-hyun administration but the regime of the 586 generation."

He continued, "The significance of Geum Tae-seop's departure is that the only liberal democrat within the Democratic Party could no longer endure and ultimately had to leave the party."

Meanwhile, former lawmaker Geum stated on his Facebook, "'Ignoring the disciplinary retrial' is not the only reason for leaving the party," and "The Democratic Party has changed so much that you cannot find the previous flexibility, humility, and culture of communication."

He criticized, "It is hard to imagine the Democratic Party led by Kim Dae-jung or Roh Moo-hyun resorting to criminal complaints and civil lawsuits against the people," adding, "There is a 'double standard' that is infinitely lenient to our side and harsh to the opponent, and a shameless 'flip-flopping' behavior that changes previous claims without any explanation or clarification."
