Two Men in Their 20s Sentenced to Prison for Violence After Protesting Against Derogatory Remarks on Women's Appearance

[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Jo] Two men in their 20s who were charged with making derogatory remarks about a woman's appearance and assaulting her companions who protested were sentenced to prison.

On the 21st, according to the legal community, Judge Kim Jeong-seok of the Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 4 sentenced A (21) to two years in prison and B (21) to five months in prison on charges including joint injury. The court stated, "Despite having been fined twice recently for similar crimes, they did not restrain themselves and committed the crime, making severe punishment inevitable."

On June 10 of last year, around 2 a.m., A and others verbally abused woman C with derogatory remarks about her appearance in front of a pub in Ulsan. When D (24), a companion of C, protested, they kicked her head and body, causing injuries requiring about six weeks of treatment. Investigations revealed that A and others habitually used violence, including hitting people they bumped into while dancing at a club, customers involved in disputes at bars, and acquaintances such as younger siblings.
