Pangyo Techno Valley, known as the heart of South Korea's advanced industries, recorded a total sales revenue of 107.2 trillion KRW last year, according to a survey conducted by the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency from April to July on all companies residing in Pangyo Techno Valley, as reported by Gyeonggi Province on the 2nd.
Notably, last year's sales increased by 22.44% (19.7 trillion KRW) compared to 2018. This growth was driven by the entry of large corporations such as SK Telecom (11 trillion KRW) and Hankook Tire & Technology (3 trillion KRW), as well as significant sales increases from existing companies.
Samsung Heavy Industries' sales rose from 5 trillion KRW to 7 trillion KRW, and Nexon’s sales increased from 940 billion KRW to 1.25 trillion KRW. The top five companies leading the sales growth were SK Telecom (11.41 trillion KRW), LS Nikko Copper Refinery (7.4 trillion KRW), Samsung Heavy Industries (7.09 trillion KRW), Hanwha (4.4 trillion KRW), Hanwha Solutions (3.99 trillion KRW), and SK Gas (3.97 trillion KRW).
Among the resident companies, 941 firms, accounting for 74.74%, have their headquarters in Pangyo Techno Valley, and 674 companies operate research institutes there. The total number of employees at 1,259 companies was 64,497, an increase of 1,447 from 63,050 in 2018. Additionally, with the upcoming completion of HP R&D Hub, Bando Ivy Valley, and Hyundai Stella Foret, the workforce is expected to exceed 200,000 in the future.
