Dr. Go Young-jong Receives 'Outstanding Oral Presentation Award' at the Korean Orthopedic Research Society Conference

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dr. Ko Youngjong (Orthopedic Surgery Laboratory, Chosun University College of Medicine) recently received the 'Excellent Oral Presentation Award' at the 46th Annual Meeting of the Korean Orthopedic Research Society held at the Grand Hilton Seoul.


According to Chosun University Hospital on the 21st, Dr. Ko received the Excellent Oral Presentation Award for his presentation titled "A novel modified RANKL variant can prevent osteoporosis by acting as a vaccine and an inhibitor," regarding a new drug with preventive and therapeutic effects on osteoporosis.


The new drug presented by the Orthopedic Surgery Laboratory at Chosun University was developed by modifying the RANKL cytokine, a key mediator causing osteoporosis, to have both preventive and therapeutic effects on osteoporosis.


This drug was developed to demonstrate superior performance with fewer doses compared to the existing osteoporosis antibody drug Denosumab, and recently completed patent acquisition while ongoing research is being conducted to improve its performance.


With this achievement, the Orthopedic Surgery Laboratory at Chosun University has won the Excellent Oral Presentation Award for two consecutive years at the Korean Orthopedic Research Society, and it is expected to further enhance the research capabilities of the Orthopedic Surgery Department at Chosun University Hospital.
