17 Additional COVID-19 Cases in Seoul Area ... 2 More Deaths Reported

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] In Seoul, 17 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed yesterday. Additionally, 2 more deaths related to COVID-19 were reported.

As of midnight on the 21st, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 17 from the previous day, bringing the cumulative total to 5,730.

Among the new cases, 2 individuals who used a swimming pool were confirmed positive, following last month's cluster infection at the Sammo Sporex sauna in Gwanak-gu, and these cases have been classified as a new cluster infection.

Five more cases related to a gathering of acquaintances in Gangnam and Seocho districts were added, bringing the total confirmed cases in Seoul from this cluster to 14.

In addition, there were 4 imported cases from overseas, 1 case from contact with confirmed patients in other cities or provinces, 2 cases from other infection routes, and 3 cases with infection routes under investigation.

Also, the 70th and 71st deaths since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Seoul were reported. Both were patients in their 80s and 70s undergoing isolation treatment, and the Seoul city government explained that both had underlying health conditions.

So far, a total of 5,268 people in Seoul have been declared recovered and discharged, while 391 patients are currently receiving isolation treatment.
