CEO Park Jung-rim Named Korea's Top 'DX CEO'... Leading KB Securities as a 'Digital Innovation Company'

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Park Jung-rim, CEO of KB Securities, was recognized for successfully leading KB Securities as a 'digital innovation company' this year and was selected as Korea's 'DX CEO' at the '2020 IDC DX Awards.'

On the 21st, KB Securities announced that CEO Park Jung-rim won the Korea DX CEO category at the '4th IDC DX Awards' hosted by IDC Korea (International Data Corporation Korea Ltd.).

The IDC DX Awards is a program to select digital leader companies in the Asia-Pacific region, held across 12 countries in the Asia-Pacific area. This year, eight domestic companies including KB Securities, SK Hynix, KB Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, Samsung SDI, Busan Bank, LS ELECTRIC, and Hanwha Total were selected as this year’s domestic awardees.

Among them, the DX CEO category was newly established this year. It is an award given to CEOs who have successfully led their companies to become digital innovation enterprises.

CEO Park Jung-rim was selected as the awardee in recognition of her active promotion of digital transformation, including ▲establishing the vision of 'customer-centricity and innovation leadership in the digital economy,' ▲discovering new platform-based business models, ▲expanding the digital ecosystem through partnerships with fintech and big tech companies, and ▲creating a flexible corporate culture and building a smart work environment.

With this, KB Securities achieved consecutive wins for two years, following the Korea Regional Grand Prize at the 2019 IDC DX Awards last year and now the DX CEO Award this year.

KB Securities introduced BaaS (Banking as a Service), a business model that provides securities infrastructure needed by fintech companies through Open API, and is seeking innovation in applying digital technology to the capital market by strengthening partnerships for mutual growth with various fintech firms.

At the same time, KB Securities is actively pursuing collaboration with big tech companies, such as establishing an AI (Artificial Intelligence) simple investment securities joint venture with NCSoft and December & Company Asset Management, and launching Project Vanilla, a joint venture with Zoom Internet, to enter the tech-finance business.

Internally, based on a flexible organizational culture, KB Securities is expanding organizational, infrastructure, and human digital capabilities while creating a smart work environment utilizing digital technology to enhance responsiveness to the new digital environment.

CEO Park said, "Digital transformation has become a necessity, not an option, to respond to the emergence of big tech and fintech companies, changes in the financial environment, systems, and consumer needs. We will continue to strive to strengthen our digital competitiveness and provide the best financial services to all customers using KB Securities."
