[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Foundation announced on the 21st that it held the first session of the ‘OnDream Forest Healing Class for COVID-19 Warriors’ from the 19th to the 20th at the National Cheongdo Forest Center.
This event, held in collaboration with the Korea Forest Welfare Institute, targeted medical staff, public officials, and volunteers who have been at the forefront of COVID-19 prevention efforts. It was specially planned to support healing and recharging through forest therapy for the ‘COVID-19 Warriors’ who worked on the front lines during the pandemic, encouraging their continued participation in overcoming COVID-19.
The OnDream Forest Healing Class is a program operated since 2014 through cooperation between the foundation and the institute, aimed at children under protection and vulnerable groups. Approximately 3,000 people have participated annually over six years, and this year, an additional 1,000 participants are included under the COVID-19 Warriors program. The COVID-19 Warriors program will be held a total of 25 times nationwide at forest healing centers and forest centers from the 19th of this month through the end of November.
The first session was held over one night and two days at the National Cheongdo Forest Center, targeting 40 employees of the Korean Red Cross and their families. The program included making cutting boards using forest materials, forest hammock experiences for mindful meditation and relaxation with nature, and a string trio concert in the forest.
