673 Autonomous Rose Building Number Plates Installed in Jangmi Village, Muk 2-dong, Jungnang-gu

Utilizing Seoul Rose Festival BI, Collaborating with Design Experts and Holding Resident Briefings to Select Designs Directly by Local Residents

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has installed 673 autonomous rose-themed building number plates on major roadsides in Mok 2-dong to revitalize the alley commercial district and improve the street environment.

The autonomous rose building number plates were installed at a total of 673 locations spanning 7.8 km, including buildings adjacent to main roads such as Dongil-ro, Jungnang-yeok-ro, and Jungnangcheon-ro in Mok 2-dong, buildings along Dongil-ro 163-gil and alleys leading to Jungnang Rose Park, as well as buildings involved in the Mok 2-dong alley regeneration project.

The autonomous building number plates address the shortcomings of the existing uniform building number plates by enhancing visibility and allowing free design and installation to harmonize with the surrounding environment and characteristics.

The rose building number plates were developed by leveraging the characteristics of Mok 2-dong as Rose Village, utilizing the Seoul Rose Festival BI (Brand Identity), and collaborating with design experts.

Notably, the local residents directly selected the design through urban regeneration project resident briefings and design surveys, which holds significant meaning.

In May, the district conducted a survey with 156 residents who attended the Mok 2-dong urban regeneration project briefing and visited the community service center’s civil affairs office to select the final design of the rose building number plates.

Mok 2-dong in Jungnang-gu, where the rose building number plates were installed, is actively undergoing urban regeneration projects under the theme of “Rose Village where flowers bloom all year round,” reflecting the local characteristics of the rose tunnel along the Jungnangcheon embankment and the waterside area. Every spring, Mok 2-dong’s Jungnang Rose Park hosts the Seoul Rose Festival.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “It is deeply meaningful to install building number plates themed around roses symbolizing Mok 2-dong’s Rose Village and to improve the street environment.” He added, “We expect that these rose building number plates will contribute to creating the Seoul Rose Festival site, attract residents’ interest, and help activate the road name address system.”
