Gangnam-gu Hosts the 18th Ontact International Peace Marathon... 3,700 Participants Including Athlete Lee Bong-ju

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) will hold the ‘Ontact International Peace Marathon’ on the 24th at 10 a.m., where all 3,700 participants will start simultaneously, and the race footage will be broadcast live online and on large media screens.

This non-face-to-face event, held to revitalize the daily lives of residents and global families exhausted by COVID-19, will have 3,700 participants not only from domestic locations such as Haeundae in Busan, Hanbando Island in Yanggu, Gangwon-do, and Jeju Olle Trail, but also from overseas locations including Argentina, Australia, and Vietnam.

Participants can choose one of the 5km, 10km, half marathon, or full marathon courses using the running application ‘Runday’ and run their selected course individually.

Notably, ‘National Marathoner’ Lee Bong-ju will participate in the 5km category, running together with participants to pray for overcoming COVID-19.

The district will broadcast live footage of 890 participants’ races on the Gangnam-gu Office YouTube channel and on large media screens around the COEX K-POP Plaza in Samseong-dong.

Participants who present interesting videos or unique courses will receive souvenirs.

All marathon entry fees will be donated to organizations working hard to overcome COVID-19.
