New Essay Collection "Geureomedo Bullago" Published After 4 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Author Gong Ji-young will appear at the Interpark Online Book Jam Concert at 8 PM on the 20th to communicate with readers.
Gong recently published her first new essay collection in four years, titled "Nevertheless." Gong Ji-young introduces her new book "Nevertheless" by saying, "I was someone who had more than 30 reasons to die by myself. But instead of committing suicide, I kept saying I was happy, so three juniors who were heartbroken visited my house one after another. This book is my answer to them."
Gong shares how she overcame a time when her mind and body were so exhausted that she contemplated death and how she found peace of mind.
The realization she gained through extensive reading was that "I must love myself." Gong plans to share in detail at the Book Jam Concert how she learned and practiced the process of loving herself.
Gong says that becoming happy requires practice or training, just like learning swimming, guitar, or a foreign language. She started by treating herself as the most precious guest in the world. Even when she was alone at home with no schedule, she took care of her appearance from the morning and set the table carefully even when eating alone.
The second method was reflecting on all the relationships that made her suffer. She cut off friends who said unpleasant things, met friends who talked about her strengths, and said that after cutting off relationships without pretending to be nice and adopting a "bad woman" concept, her mind and body felt comfortable. Gong Ji-young says that after practicing loving herself for about 10 years, she became much more at ease.
"In life, we all stand at the edge of a cliff at least once, and I put into this book what I wanted to give to those standing at that cliff. To gain happiness, you have to practice every day like Cho Seong-jin or BTS."
Gong Ji-young’s Book Jam Concert can be viewed at 8 PM on the 20th through InterparkTV within the Interpark app and the YouTube channel Gongwon Saenghwal’s online Book Jam Concert corner.
Interpark will also offer a limited number of signed copies by Gong Ji-young and hand towels to readers who purchase "Nevertheless" after 8 PM on the 20th on a first-come, first-served basis (via point deduction or payment).
