[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that it has secured 200 million won in project funds after being selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' '2021 Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Attraction Support Project' contest.

According to the county, the Ministry of Agriculture supports urban resident attraction programs promoted in each region to ensure the stable settlement of those wishing to return to farming and rural areas and to revitalize rural regions.

Until now, three projects including the urban resident rural attraction support project and the establishment of houses for returnees have been operated and supported individually, but from next year, they will be integrated and promoted as the Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Attraction Support Project.

Following this contest selection, Sancheong-gun will implement various return-to-farming and return-to-village policies such as ▲ operation of the Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Support Center ▲ establishment of houses for returnees ▲ village-level integration education ▲ pre-living experience in rural areas ▲ Sancheong Picnic and rural experience education.

The houses for returnees project provides temporary residences at low rent for prospective returnees to learn farming techniques in Sancheong-gun and settle down. Although only one house has been established annually, this contest selection will expand the number to two from 2021.

A county official stated, "Through this contest selection, we will promote various support policies so that many urban residents wishing to return to farming and rural areas can settle stably in the county," and added, "We will continue to do our best in policy promotion so that returnees can lead happy lives in the county."

Meanwhile, Sancheong-gun is promoting various support projects for returnees, including new farmer farming settlement support projects, housing repair cost support for returnees, homestays for prospective returnees, and rural adaptation life skills education for returnees.
