[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] Health authorities announced that among the 32 people who received the influenza (flu) vaccination with the same lot number on the same day at the same hospital as the 17-year-old high school student who died two days after vaccination in Incheon, no adverse reactions have been reported.
On the 20th, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) issued a written response regarding the national influenza vaccination program, stating, "We individually contacted all 32 people who received the flu vaccine with the same lot number on the same day as the 17-year-old deceased through public health centers, and confirmed that none experienced adverse reactions."
According to the KDCA, as of 1 p.m. on the 20th, a total of 82,668 cases of vaccination with the same lot number as that of the 17-year-old deceased have been recorded. Reported adverse reactions related to this lot include 2 cases of allergies and 1 case of injection site pain, totaling 3 cases.
The KDCA stated, "Based on the information confirmed so far, there is no basis to suspend the national influenza vaccination program. We are strengthening surveillance of adverse reactions among those vaccinated with the same vaccine as the 17-year-old deceased, and depending on the final autopsy results, we plan to promptly review any associations and take follow-up measures."
