[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The "Action Alliance for Restoring the Rule of Law" (Beopse Ryeon) filed a complaint with the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 20th against Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, accusing Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae of spreading false information that he concealed misconduct cases involving opposition politicians and prosecutors.

Beopse Ryeon stated, "The Ministry of Justice announced without any evidence that 'the Prosecutor General received specific reports of misconduct involving opposition politicians and prosecutors but, unlike with ruling party figures, did not direct a thorough investigation.'" They argued, "This is a clear false statement and constitutes defamation by false facts." They added, "The Ministry of Justice, without even minimal fact-checking, forcibly linked the one-sided testimony of a fraudster to spread false information about the Prosecutor General. This act is a political operation to cover up power-related corruption cases," and declared, "Minister Choo, who holds ultimate responsibility for the statement, and the staff involved in its preparation should be severely punished."

Earlier, the Ministry of Justice stated, "Regarding allegations recently reported in the media about 'entertainment and bribery misconduct involving prosecutors and investigators' and 'billion-won bribery lobbying involving opposition politicians who are former chief prosecutors,' former Lime chairman Kim Bong-hyun testified to the prosecution, but related investigations were not properly conducted." They continued, "Although the Prosecutor General was directly involved in selecting prosecutors for the Lime case investigation and repeatedly emphasized thorough investigations, there are suspicions that he received specific reports of misconduct involving opposition politicians and prosecutors but did not direct a thorough investigation."
