[Asia Economy Reporter Su-yeon Woo] Porsche AG unveiled three new Panamera models on the 20th: the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, 4 E-Hybrid, and 4S.
Including the 'new Panamera 4S E-Hybrid' with a maximum output of 560 horsepower revealed last August, Porsche is introducing plug-in hybrid models in three body styles for the first time in the brand's history: sedan, executive, and sport turismo. In South Korea, the launch of the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is planned for the first half of 2021. The price is 166.2 million KRW, while the domestic release and timing of other models remain undecided.
The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, equipped with a 571-horsepower 4L biturbo V8 engine and a 136-horsepower electric motor, delivers the most powerful output in the new Panamera lineup with 700 horsepower and a maximum torque of 88.72 kg·m. It comes standard with the Sport Chrono Package and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The top speed has increased by 5 km/h to 315 km/h.
With improvements in battery cells, the high-voltage battery capacity has increased from 14.1 to 17.9 kWh, optimizing the driving modes for efficient energy use. The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid can travel up to 50 km on electric power alone (WLTP standard).
Porsche has applied the same 17.9 kWh battery to the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, which combines a 330-horsepower 2.9L biturbo V6 engine with an electric motor to produce a system output of 462 horsepower. It can drive up to 56 km in electric mode according to WLTP standards. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.4 seconds, and the top speed is 280 km/h.
The new Panamera 4S is equipped with a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine producing a maximum output of 440 horsepower (PS). With the Sport Chrono Package, the zero-to-100 km/h acceleration is 4.1 seconds, and the top speed is 295 km/h. The latest model improvements have been applied, and the previously optional Sport Design front end is now standard.
The design of the new Panamera Hybrid features prominent air intake grilles, wider side cooling air outlets, and a single-bar front light layout. The newly designed front end of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is further distinguished by dual C-shaped turbo front lighting modules and wider side air intakes.
The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with sharp display resolution includes new digital functions and services such as enhanced Voice Pilot online voice control, risk radar for road signs and hazard information, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Connect services.
The chassis and control systems of all new Panamera models have been tuned for sporty performance and comfortable driving experience, applying a completely new control strategy. The new generation steering control system and tires ensure improved lateral dynamics and high precision.
