Joint Inspection of 1,110 Locations from October 14 to 18... High-Intensity Checks Despite Eased Social Distancing

"Handwritten Logs Must Be Disposed of After 4 Weeks" ... Busan Entertainment Venues 5 Places Ordered to Close Status of Businesses Violating Quarantine Rules in Busan City.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A business owner who did not dispose of a handwritten visitor logbook even after 4 weeks, a business where the representative's mother did not wear a mask, omissions in visitor entries, employees not wearing masks, failure to record employee symptoms twice a day...

In Busan, a closure order was issued to a nightlife establishment that violated such quarantine rules. Although the social distancing level has been eased, Busan City is determined to strengthen quarantine rule inspections.

In particular, many cases were found violating the core quarantine rule of 'failure to dispose of handwritten logbooks after 4 weeks.' Since personal information such as phone numbers is included, this is an item that business owners must strictly observe, and negligence could result in the inability to operate the business, so caution is required.

Busan City announced on the 20th that it conducted intensive inspections of high-risk facilities subject to gathering restrictions due to the easing of social distancing to level 1, and detected a total of 5 places, issuing closure orders.

On the 14th, Busan City launched an all-out response to block the spread of community infections following a rapid increase in COVID-19 confirmed cases originating from nursing hospitals.

With the recent easing of distancing, high-risk facilities under gathering restriction orders were also subjected to intensive on-site inspections.

From the 14th to the 18th, Busan City mobilized a total of 178 personnel including district offices and police to inspect 1,110 high-risk facilities (708 nightlife establishments, 384 danranjumeon [private karaoke bars], 16 emotional pubs, and 2 buffets).

As a result, 5 nightlife establishments (2 in Busanjin-gu, 2 in Dongnae-gu, 1 in Sasang-gu) violating core quarantine rules were detected and immediately ordered to close.

The violations included ▲ failure to record visitor logs and poor management of handwritten logbooks ▲ employees not wearing masks ▲ failure to disinfect more than twice a day and failure to record it ▲ failure to check and record employee symptoms daily.

The city has been strongly demanding that operators and associations of high-risk facilities comply with core quarantine rules. However, some businesses were found not to comply during this inspection, so the city plans to induce operators and users to voluntarily follow core quarantine rules through a pre-announcement system for guidance and inspection.

Byun Sung-wan, Acting Mayor of Busan, said, “If operators and employees of high-risk facilities do not wear masks, a fine of up to 3 million won will be imposed from the 13th of next month,” and urged, “Please strictly follow the core quarantine rules so that closure orders for high-risk facilities due to community infection spread will no longer be issued.”
