'Online Textbook Idea Contest' Held

"Transition to a Co-Created Textbook System" Online Textbook National Policy Contest Provided by the Ministry of Education

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Education announced on the 20th that it will hold the 'Online Textbook Idea Contest' for the first time this year to gather ideas for creating future-oriented textbooks.

Based on the ideas selected in this contest, the Ministry of Education plans to reflect them in establishing a future-oriented textbook system, including expanding the free publication system for textbooks and developing teaching materials that link online and offline classes.

From November 9 to December 4, free proposals regarding textbook policies within 1,000 characters can be submitted through the National Idea Platform. Ideas on textbook policies suitable for an education environment linking online and offline will be accepted, and outstanding works will be awarded prizes.

For field teachers, a contest will be held to find online textbook utilization models needed in schools. This contest aims to discover online textbook models centered on curriculum achievement standards, available as electronic books (ebooks) and PDF files that can be used on personal computers or personal mobile devices.

Ham Young-gi, Director of Curriculum Policy at the Ministry of Education, said, "This can be an opportunity to shift to a system of co-creating textbooks," adding, "It is expected to derive policy implications for a future-oriented textbook system, such as the introduction of the high school credit system."
