iPhone 12 Screen Replacement Price Increased by 99,000 KRW
iPhone 12 Pro Repair Cost Same as Previous Model
AppleCare+ Warranty Coverage Expanded to 4 Times in 2 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The iPhone 12 repair cost has slightly increased to the 560,000 KRW range compared to its predecessor.
On the 20th, Apple Korea disclosed the repair costs for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro on its website.
The repair (refurbishment) cost for parts such as the mainboard, camera, back glass, and buttons is 564,000 KRW for the iPhone 12 and 704,000 KRW for the iPhone 12 Pro. For the iPhone 11, the cost was 528,000 KRW, so the repair cost has increased by 36,000 KRW.
The replacement cost for a broken display is the same for both models at 363,000 KRW. For the iPhone 12, the cost increased by 99,000 KRW compared to its predecessor due to the switch to OLED, while the iPhone 12 Pro remains the same. The battery replacement cost for both the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro is 88,000 KRW, unchanged from the previous model.
If you subscribe to Apple’s own insurance product, AppleCare Plus (26,900 KRW for the iPhone 12), you only need to pay a deductible of 40,000 KRW for display replacement and 120,000 KRW for other damages during the 2-year warranty period.
Meanwhile, Apple expanded the coverage frequency of AppleCare Plus starting last month. Accidental damage is now covered twice per year. Previously, only two incidents of water damage, screen breakage, or back damage were covered over two years, but this has been expanded to a total of four times, twice per year. In overseas markets such as the U.S., the subscription period was extended from 60 days to 1 year, but in Korea, subscription is only possible within 60 days of device purchase.
