Dobong-gu 'The Power of Play' Parent Education Non-Face-to-Face Online Lecture

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) is conducting a non-face-to-face online lecture titled ‘The Power of Play’ for parents to guarantee children's right to play in the COVID-19 era, amid difficulties in outdoor activities due to COVID-19.

The online education for improving parental awareness was prepared to address the increased need for parenting methods and role education as home care time has increased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and to reflect on the right to play and the importance of play for infants and toddlers during a period when outdoor activities are limited.

The lecture video will be posted on the Dobong-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center YouTube channel from October 21, allowing viewers to watch anytime regardless of place and time.

The lecture will be given by Hong Ju-young, a writer for EBS and author of the book The Rebellion of Play. With over 27 years of experience in child education research and producing more than 100 documentary programs, she plans to conduct distinctive education using realistic lectures and abundant domestic and international materials.

Meanwhile, the Dobong-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center has been operating group and face-to-face education as ‘online education’ in response to the increasing educational demands of parents, receiving positive responses from parents.

Additionally, the Dobong-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center’s YouTube channel continuously uploads infant and toddler programs and educational videos such as language and cooking to support increased home play due to COVID-19.

Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “This year, with many changes in daily life inside and outside the home, we have prepared an educational platform online for children’s health and right to play,” and added, “Through meaningful lectures, we expect to contribute to understanding children’s play and fostering positive relationships between parents and children.”
