[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 19th, Lee Seong-yoon, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, stated at the National Assembly inspection that he never opposed the indictment of former Blue House Public Office Discipline Secretary Choi Kang-wook on charges of obstruction of business.
During the National Assembly inspection of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office and its subordinate prosecutors' offices by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, Chief Prosecutor Lee said, "The media reports suggest that I opposed the indictment regarding the Ulsan case or former Secretary Choi Kang-wook's case, but that is not true. At least, I proposed handling it after the suspect's summons and investigation."
Regarding the allegation that he proposed forming a special investigation team excluding Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl during his tenure as Director of the Prosecutor's Office at the Ministry of Justice in connection with the investigation of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's family, he explained, "That issue was a story that came up as an idea between us and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office."
Concerning the allegation that he shouted at former Seoul High Prosecutors' Office Chief Kim Young-dae after visiting him over the disciplinary inspection of Deputy Chief Prosecutor Jeong Jin-ung of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office (then Head of the Criminal Division 1 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office), who had a physical altercation with Chief Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon, he also stated, "That is not true."
