Salted Co., Ltd. (CEO: Jo Hyung-jin), a global leader in golf analysis solutions with smart insoles, gained overwhelming support from American golfers by ranking first in the bestseller list in the golf swing trainer category during the Amazon Prime Day event held in the United States over two days from October 13 to 14, despite the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, on October 12, Salted was featured on the largest U.S. review site, MyGolfSpy (mygolfspy.com), receiving high praise from consumers.
The Salted smart insole is a wearable device equipped with built-in pressure sensors that transmit plantar pressure data in real-time to a self-developed mobile app. It analyzes center of gravity shifts and body balance data, enabling gait analysis, running analysis, and posture and swing motion analysis during golf practice.
Salted Golf, which analyzes data from the smart insole, digitizes individual swing motions and provides immediate feedback. It offers functions such as weight transfer and ground reaction force analysis, swing balance improvement, segmented goal setting, practice, and record keeping.
At the end of October, Salted plans to launch a new smart insole that is thinner than its previous products. Along with an improved application, it aims to provide customers with a more convenient and smart training environment, offering solutions that make health management, injury prevention, and sports performance enhancement easier.
CEO Jo Hyung-jin of Salted stated, “We had confidence in the product’s technological capabilities and the accumulated customer experience, which assured us that we could succeed in the global market.” He added, “We will continue to secure technological competitiveness of the smart insole and pioneer overseas markets to establish a foundation for becoming a unicorn in the global smart wearable device sector.”
Salted started as Samsung Electronics’ in-house venture 'C Lab (Creative Lab)' and became an independent digital life care company in September 2015. It launched the Salted Insole, a wearable device applying Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The Salted Insole provides specialized services for various sports, including golf, Salted Running, and fitness.
The company received the CES 2017 Innovation Award and the Gold Award at the ISPO Sports Goods Fair in 2017 and 2018. Last year, it secured investments totaling 2.5 billion KRW from Michigan Venture Capital, InLight Ventures, Shinhan Investment Corp., and Koramco Asset Management.
In 2020, Salted was selected for the Small and Medium Sports Enterprise Support Project sponsored by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation and was recognized for its technology by Amazon, participating as one of the representative companies in Amazon Headquarters’ Launchpad program.
