[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) announced on the 19th that it held a special event called "Wedding of Love," providing wedding photo shoots, ring exchanges, and other special events for couples who were unable to hold wedding ceremonies.
SH Corporation stated that it held the "2020 Wedding of Love - Special Edition" from the 13th to the 16th. The Wedding of Love is SH Corporation's representative social contribution activity that holds wedding ceremonies for couples who could not have one due to various circumstances. SH Corporation recruited applicants from August 25 to September 9, receiving applications from 19 couples residing in Seoul, and selected 5 couples in the final round.
The screening was conducted twice based on the stories sent by the applicants. Three young couples and two middle-aged or older couples were selected. This year, SH Corporation explained that the screening was more difficult because many stories came from multicultural families who could not hold weddings due to family members abroad being unable to enter the country, as well as couples who skipped weddings due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Wedding of Love event is usually held as a joint wedding ceremony, but this time, in response to COVID-19, it was held as a "Special Edition" with individual events for each couple at a riverside studio located on the Han River. SH Corporation supported wedding photo shoots and produced videos capturing on-site sketches that could be shared with family and relatives who could not attend the event. They provided a special day for the couples by holding a sketchbook proposal event and a ring exchange ceremony. Our Bank, a partner company, supported wedding rings, dresses, tuxedos, and hair and makeup.
One couple who participated in the event said, "Living 15 years without a single wedding photo was a burden on my heart, but thanks to the Wedding of Love, I was able to soothe my long-standing regrets and am happy to have a wedding photo hung right in the middle of our living room."
Kim Seyong, President of SH Corporation, said, "I was worried whether we could successfully hold this event as weddings are being canceled due to COVID-19, but I was surprised that so many couples want to have a wedding. We will continue to work harder to create events that meet expectations."
