[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) held an opening ceremony for the complex facilities for the 50+ generation and senior citizens, the ‘Geumcheon 50 Plus Center’ and the ‘Geumcheon Senior Welfare Center,’ on the 16th.
The opening ceremony was held simply with about 30 attendees including Mayor Yu Seong-hoon, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and resident representatives, considering social distancing measures. The event proceeded in the order of ▲ center introduction and project briefing ▲ ribbon cutting ▲ facility tour.
Meanwhile, to support life redesign for the 50+ generation and senior citizens, the district built the ‘Geumcheon 50 Plus Center’ and the ‘Geumcheon Senior Welfare Center’ at 22 Beoman-ro 17-gil (Doksan 1-dong), with a scale from basement level 1 to the 8th floor, completed in December last year.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the district postponed the opening twice and has been operating about 20 courses online.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, “I hope the Geumcheon 50 Plus Center and the Geumcheon Senior Welfare Center will become key institutions supporting a happy old age for middle-aged and senior citizens,” and added, “We will continue to develop quality programs in cooperation with the centers to support life redesign for middle-aged people and hobbies, leisure, and health management for the elderly.”
