[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] Shin Ji-ae (32) secured her first win of the season on the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) Tour.

On the 18th, at the Tokyu Seven Hundred Golf Club in Chiba Prefecture, Japan (par 72, 6,659 yards), she finished the Fujitsu Ladies (total prize money 100 million yen) final round with a 3-under-par, achieving a 2-stroke victory (7-under-par 209). This marks her 25th career win, her first in 1 year and 4 months since the Earth Mondamin Cup last June. The winner's prize money was 18 million yen (195.93 million KRW). More importantly, with a total career prize money of 1,024,217,776 yen, she became the sixth player in JLPGA Tour history to surpass the 1 billion yen mark.

Starting the final round in second place, 1 stroke behind, Shin opened the scoring with 'stepping stone birdies' on holes 8 and 10, and secured her lead with consecutive birdies on holes 15 and 16 in the back nine. Although she made the only bogey on the 17th hole (par 3), it did not affect her victory. She exclaimed, "I did not expect to win this early this year due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)." Bae Sun-woo (26) tied for second place (5-under-par 211) along with Ayaka Furu from Japan.
