[Asia Economy Reporter Seo Sojeong] A mother who sparked public outrage by posting on a secondhand goods trading mobile application that she would sell her 36-week-old baby for 200,000 won has belatedly realized her mistake and deleted the post.

On the 18th, the Jeju Provincial Police Agency announced that they are investigating Ms. A, who posted on a secondhand goods trading mobile application that she would give her infant up for adoption.

During the police investigation, Ms. A stated, "The baby's father is currently absent, and after giving birth, I received counseling on the adoption procedure at a single mother center, which made me angry." She explained that due to financial difficulties in raising the child, she acted out of frustration and made a wrong decision.

Ms. A further claimed, "Immediately after posting, I realized it was a wrong action, deleted the post right away, and also withdrew my account."

According to the police, although Ms. A wrote "36-week baby" in the post, she actually gave birth at an obstetrics hospital in Jeju City on the 13th.

Ms. A is currently at a postpartum care center and plans to move to a single mother facility after discharge.

The police are investigating Ms. A for possible violations of the Child Welfare Act and, separately from the investigation, are seeking ways to support the infant and mother by cooperating with related organizations.
