[Asia Economy Reporter Nana] Lee Jae-oh, Senior Advisor of the People Power Party, urged that "the Kim Jong-in emergency committee must immediately conduct its own fact-finding investigation and take preemptive measures," while former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon, a close aide of Lee Myung-bak, stated that he agrees with Lee Jae-oh's words for the first time in his life.
On the 18th, former professor Jin posted on his Facebook, "I agree with this person (Lee Jae-oh) for the first time in my life," sharing an article about Lee Jae-oh's statement that "Kim Jong-in, chairman of the People Power Party emergency committee, should form an independent fact-finding committee to directly confront the allegations related to the Lime and Optimus gate."
He added that the People Power Party should actively conduct its own investigation before calling for a special prosecutor, saying, "More important than the crisis is the correct way to handle it. If handled properly, the crisis could even become an opportunity."
Earlier, on the 17th, Senior Advisor Lee emphasized, "The opposition party must be clean as it attacks the corrupt ruling government party," urging the People Power Party to investigate the allegations of involvement in the Lime and Optimus incidents themselves and clarify the matter clearly, stating, "No corruption should be allowed to take root in the opposition party; otherwise, the party will collapse, and there will be no by-elections, no presidential election, nothing."
He warned, "If we hesitate (to reveal the truth), we may fall victim to the ruling party's counterattack aimed at covering up power-related corruption scandals."
He added, "We must handle this according to the party constitution and regulations, and if there is a need to file charges, it should be done first."
