Gyeonggi Office of Education Introduces 'High School Credit System' Online

[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will introduce the High School Credit System through an online broadcast to help middle school students explore career paths.

Gyeonggi Office of Education announced on the 18th that it will hold a live online broadcast titled "A Taste of the High School Credit System" starting at 5 p.m. on the 20th.

The broadcast topics include the concept of the High School Credit System, high school curriculum and evaluation system, career-related elective subjects, and linking the High School Credit System with student career paths.

The broadcast will feature two on-site teachers and two middle school students as panelists who will discuss each topic and conduct Q&A through the chat window.

The broadcast can be viewed on Gyeonggi Teacher On TV (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSXVaXMIvCw).

The High School Credit System is a system that allows students to select and complete various subjects according to their self-set career paths like university students, and graduate once their accumulated credits meet the criteria.

The Gyeonggi Office of Education plans to implement the High School Credit System across all grades in 2022.

Other city and provincial offices of education will introduce this system in some grades in 2022 according to government policy, then gradually expand it, with full implementation by 2025.
