Strengthening Technology Protection Capabilities for Small and Medium Enterprises
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Medium, Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries announced on the 19th that its Technology Data Deposit Center has obtained ISO27001 certification, the international standard for information security management systems.
This certification was awarded in recognition of the establishment of a systematic information security management system across 11 areas including information protection policies, communication and operations, and access control.
The foundation has built a system to reliably manage information assets such as the technical and management information of deposit companies and to safely protect the deposits from internal and external information security incident risks.
With this certification, the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Medium, Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries has established its second ISO-certified management system following the ISO9001 quality management system certification obtained in November last year.
The technology data deposit system has been in operation since 2008, with over 70,000 deposit contracts signed to date. It prevents the leakage of technical data or trade secrets of small and medium enterprises and proactively prevents unfair technical data demands that may arise during transactions between consignors and consignees.
Designated as the custodian of the technology data deposit system under the "Act on the Promotion of Mutual Cooperation between Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises," the foundation established and operates the Technology Data Deposit Center from the first year of the system's implementation. It has achieved results in protecting small and medium enterprises' technologies by providing deposit records as investigative evidence in case of technology data leakage and by delivering deposits for data recovery when materials are damaged.
Kim Sooncheol, Secretary General of the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Medium, Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries, said, "By obtaining not only quality management but also information security management system certification, we can manage small and medium enterprises' technical data more systematically and securely.
