Songpa-gu to Hold Two Sessions of Happy Communication Methods with Children Online and Offline Lectures for Elementary, Middle, and High School Parents at 3 PM on October 27 and November 5...Teaching Happy Communication and Wise Media Use with Children
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seong-su Park·photo) is holding a parent education program to help foster happy relationships between parents and children in response to the rapidly changing environment in the COVID-19 era.
This education is part of the 2020 Songpa Innovation Education District project under the 'Parent School' initiative and is targeted at parents of elementary, middle, and high school students in the area. It will be held twice, on October 27 and November 5 at 3 p.m. in the district office auditorium.
On October 27, considering the increase in depression due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, a session to share about 'happiness' will be held. Professor Eun-guk Seo of Yonsei University's Department of Psychology, known as a 'happiness researcher,' will deliver a lecture titled 'The Science of Happiness, Who and Why is Happy,' sharing ways to communicate happily with children.
The district expects this to be an opportunity to reconsider family happiness in the COVID-19 era through a scientific approach to happiness.
On November 5, the topic will be 'Wise Media Life for My Child.' Yong-chul Kang, a teacher at Kyunghee Girls' Middle School and an expert panelist on MBC's 'What is Studying?' program, will participate as a lecturer. The session will discuss proper media usage habits amid the rapidly changing learning environment, including increased dependence on smartphones due to online classes.
The education will be conducted both online and offline to prevent infectious diseases.
Parents who wish to attend in person can register through the Songpa Saem Education Expo website or by email (edu2360@songpa.go.kr). Each session will accept 40 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, and all sessions are free of charge.
Anyone can watch live through the Songpa Saem YouTube channel. After the lecture, both on-site and online viewers can resolve their questions through real-time Q&A.
Seong-su Park, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “The changes in the learning environment due to COVID-19 require new efforts from parents as well,” adding, “I hope this parent education will be an opportunity for parents and children to understand each other well and build happy relationships, preparing wisely for the post-COVID era.”
