50s Man Isolated While Rock Fishing in Yeonggwang 'Emergency Rescue'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Seo Young-seo] A man in his 50s who was fishing on the rocky shore in Yeonggwang, Jeonnam, became stranded and was urgently rescued by the Coast Guard.

On the 17th, Mokpo Coast Guard received a report at 12:16 PM that a man in his 50s fishing on the rocky shore near Gyema Port in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeonnam, was stranded due to rapidly rising water.

The Coast Guard immediately dispatched the Yeonggwang Police Station coastal rescue boat, and upon arrival at the scene, confirmed that the water had risen up to the man's knees. Then, one officer entered the sea and used a rescue tube to carry out the rescue.

According to the Coast Guard, the stranded man had used a fishing boat to get onto the rocky shore and was enjoying fishing when the water quickly rose up to his ankles, prompting him to request rescue.

Meanwhile, the rescued man returned home safely and is reported to be in good health.

A Mokpo Coast Guard official said, "Recently, accidents involving people becoming stranded on rocky shores have been occurring frequently," and added, "When fishing on rocky shores, it is essential to check the tide in advance and avoid going far from the coast as you may lose your sense of direction."
