[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol (photo) on the 17th ordered a sudden investigation into allegations of prosecutor misconduct related to the Lime Asset Management redemption suspension case.
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office stated that "Prosecutor General Yoon instructed the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, which is investigating the overall lobbying allegations, to promptly investigate the 'prosecutor misconduct' part and to strictly and thoroughly determine whether there is any criminal liability."
Earlier, Kim Bong-hyun, the former chairman of Star Mobility and the de facto owner of Lime, revealed that he had lobbied with about 10 million won worth of drinking entertainment and money provision to a former high-ranking lawyer and three current prosecutors the day before.
