Controversy Over "Baby for 200,000 Won" Post on Danggeun Market... Police Launch Investigation


[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] A post offering to trade a 36-week-old infant for 200,000 won appeared on the secondhand goods trading mobile application 'Danggeun Market,' prompting the police to launch an investigation.


According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency on the 17th, at around 6:30 PM on the 16th, a post titled "Adopting a child. 36 weeks old" was uploaded in the Seogwipo City category of the secondhand trading app Danggeun Market, with a selling price of 200,000 won. Two photos showing the child were also posted.


The post spread online through local mom cafes in Jeju Island and other platforms. Some netizens who saw the sales post reportedly reported it to 112, demanding punishment for the poster. The Jeju Provincial Police Agency is tracking down the person who posted the message while verifying the facts.
