Perspective view of Geomdan New Town Work-Life Balance Village Special Zone [Provided by Incheon Urban Corporation]
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] A specialized zone development project considering the era of 1-2 person households is being promoted in Geomdan New Town, Incheon.
Incheon Urban Corporation announced on the 17th that it recently signed a contract with the Korea Urban Design Society consortium for the "Work and Life Balance Village Specialized Zone Feasibility Study and Business Promotion Strategy Establishment Service" within the 2nd and 3rd phase project sites of Geomdan New Town.
Work and Life Balance Village is a specialized zone focused on balancing work and life, where a residential complex for youth and newlyweds, a smart work center, youth cultural spaces, an integrated childcare center, and an e-edu complex will be established on approximately 420,000㎡ in the western special planning zone of Geomdan New Town.
In particular, as a residential space for youth and newlyweds, small-sized housing considering post-COVID-19 lifestyle patterns and the era of 1-2 person households will be available for purchase at affordable prices. Additionally, drone delivery services responding to the 4th Industrial Revolution era will be introduced, and the housing will be specialized as energy-saving communal residences.
This service will adjust the existing housing plans to realize the already established concept of the Work and Life Balance Village specialized zone, establish architectural plans to implement the concept, link with public support facilities, conduct market research, prepare guidelines for business operator recruitment, and devise participation plans for the Urban Corporation, aiming for completion by September next year.
Meanwhile, the corporation selected the Lotte Construction consortium as the preferred negotiator for the Next Complex development project (101 Station Area Development Project), the first specialized zone in Geomdan New Town, at the end of last month, and is pushing for a business agreement within this year.
An official from Incheon Urban Corporation stated, "Following the selection of a private business operator for the Next Complex specialized zone, which will be a landmark of Geomdan New Town, we will further solidify the identity of Geomdan New Town through the establishment of a business promotion strategy for the Work and Life Balance Village specialized zone."
