[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 16th, Gyeongsangnam-do held the ‘Gyeongsangnam-do Innovation City Public Institution Investment Attraction Meeting’ at the western government office in Jinju.


Presided over by Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Park Jong-won, this meeting aimed to enhance industrial competitiveness in response to the economic crisis caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and changes in the future industrial system, and to discuss plans to revitalize the attraction of companies within the province by utilizing related infrastructure such as research institutes and companies linked to public institutions.


The meeting was attended by representatives from 11 public institutions relocated to Jinju Innovation City, where the province explained ▲investment environment and incentives and ▲plans for innovation-oriented public procurement, and discussed ▲plans to attract investment from domestic companies linked to public institutions in Innovation City.


To facilitate the linkage between Innovation City public institutions and domestic company attraction, the province shared an overview of Gyeongnam’s economic status, including industrial structure, industrial complex and transportation infrastructure, status of specialized industries, and availability of industrial complexes for sale.


Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) presented the contents of the ongoing project ‘Gyeongnam Innovation City Enterprise Relocation Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Zone Leading Model Station-k,’ sharing cases of promoting startups and company relocations within the province through the activation of the industry-academia-research cooperation zone in Innovation City, thereby raising interest among public institutions relocated to Innovation City in attracting domestic company investments.


Deputy Governor Park said, “Gyeongnam Province is doing its best to secure future growth engines such as future automobiles to overcome the COVID-19 economic crisis and proactively respond to changes in the future industrial system,” and urged, “We ask Innovation City public institutions to join forces to promote industrial innovation and secure future food sources in the province.”
