Connection Failure Following Hacking Incident in July This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Social networking service (SNS) Twitter experienced outages preventing access in various parts of the world. Twitter stated that the access issues were due to internal system problems and denied any possibility of hacking.
On the 15th (local time), Twitter explained through its official account, "Many users are unable to access Twitter, and recovery work is underway," adding, "There was an issue within the internal system, and no evidence of hacking or security breaches has been found." It further stated, "This outage occurred because the system replacement started earlier than planned, affecting most servers," and "The system should be fully operational within 1 to 2 hours."
Coincidentally, Twitter's recent system malfunction drew attention as it occurred shortly after Twitter unusually blocked reports related to Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate. Previously, the New York Post reported that it had uncovered a 'smoking gun'?clear evidence?regarding the Ukraine scandal involving Biden's son, Hunter Biden, among others.
Regarding this report, Twitter and Facebook decided to block links to the coverage, citing concerns over objectivity. Following this, Twitter experienced issues, attracting significant attention.
Earlier this year in July, Twitter also suffered a hacking incident involving the accounts of Biden, former U.S. President Barack Obama, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. At that time, hackers sent messages to their followers stating, "Send $1,000 in Bitcoin, and we will send back double."
