Gokseong-gun Conducts '2020 Population and Housing Census' Led by Statistics Korea

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gokseong-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 16th that it will conduct the '2020 Population and Housing Census' targeting all residents living in the area from the 15th of last month to the 18th of next month.

The Population and Housing Census, conducted by the county under the supervision of Statistics Korea, identifies changes in our society over the past five years regarding population, households, and housing.

Through this, it serves as basic data for establishing major national policies and as a foundation for various statistics to be conducted over the next five years.

In particular, this year, new survey items such as 'pets,' 'activity-restricted care,' and 'reasons for single-person households' were added to reflect new policy demands and social changes.

This survey is conducted in two ways: a full census using administrative data registration census method and a sample survey targeting 20% of the population.

Households selected as samples can participate in the survey via internet, mobile, or telephone using the participation number sent by mail starting from the 15th.

Households that do not respond will be visited directly by surveyors from the 1st to the 18th of next month, who will conduct interviews using tablet PCs.

During the visit interview period, respondents can also participate non-face-to-face via internet, mobile, or telephone, and if desired, can respond using paper questionnaires.

A county official said, "The Population and Housing Census is the most fundamental national statistic conducted every five years, so we ask for active cooperation and participation from the residents," and added, "To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we hope you actively participate in non-face-to-face surveys such as internet, mobile, and telephone."

Meanwhile, prior to the survey, the county hired 62 survey personnel and conducted training on the 7th to provide survey guidelines, tablet usage methods, and safety rules.
