Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Wins Order for Three Ships Worth 140 Billion KRW

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the shipbuilding holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, has succeeded in securing orders for ships worth approximately 140 billion KRW (a total of 3 vessels).

Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering recently announced that it signed construction contracts with shipping companies based in Singapore and Liberia for one 40,000 cubic meter (㎥) class medium-sized LPG carrier and two 50,000-ton PC vessels, respectively.

These ships will be built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard's Ulsan headquarters and are scheduled to be delivered sequentially to the shipowners starting from March 2022.

The newly ordered LPG and PC vessels will be equipped with LPG dual-fuel propulsion engines and scrubbers, respectively, and will be constructed as eco-friendly ships capable of complying with the strengthened sulfur oxide emission regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

A representative from Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering stated, "Orders are being secured across various ship types based on our advanced technology and construction experience," adding, "We will continue efforts to secure work through active sales activities."
