Democratic Party 31.3% · People Power Party 30.2%... Support Rates Narrowed Within Margin of Error [Realmeter]

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] A recent poll revealed that the support rate for the Democratic Party of Korea dropped by more than 4 percentage points within a week. Meanwhile, the People Power Party saw a slight increase, narrowing the gap with the Democratic Party to within the margin of error.

According to Realmeter, which conducted the survey commissioned by tbs from the 12th to the 14th, the Democratic Party's support rate was 31.3%, down 4.3 percentage points from the previous week, as announced on the 15th.

The decline was particularly notable in the Chungcheong region (down 13.7 percentage points), Gyeonggi-Incheon (down 5.9 percentage points), people in their 20s (down 13.3 percentage points), people in their 40s (down 8.3 percentage points), and progressive groups (down 13.0 percentage points).

On the other hand, the People Power Party recorded 30.2%, up 1.3 percentage points, regaining the 30% range after two weeks.

The gap between the two parties' support rates narrowed to 1.1 percentage points, bringing it back within the margin of error (±2.5 percentage points) after two weeks.

Realmeter analyzed that the impact was due to the letter regarding the West Sea public official shooting death incident and the Lime and Optimus scandals expanding into allegations of power-related gate scandals.

Support rates for other parties besides the opposition were as follows: Open Democratic Party 9.4%, Justice Party 5.8%, and People Party 4.8%.

President Moon Jae-in's approval rating for his administration was 45.4%, up 0.6 percentage points from the previous week. Negative evaluations dropped by 1.8 percentage points to 50.0%.

The survey contacted 34,889 voters aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final 1,506 respondents completing the survey, resulting in a 4.3% response rate.
