[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Historian Jeon Wooyong, who participated as a contributor to the book "Prosecutorial Reform and Candlelight Citizens," commonly known as the 'Jo Guk White Paper,' and said he "experienced difficulties," was criticized on the 14th by Kim Geunsik, chairman of the People Power Party's Seoul Songpa-byeong district committee and professor at Gyeongnam National University, who said, "'Are you imitating former Minister of Justice Jo Guk, who defended Jo Guk and now plays the victim?'"

Professor Kim wrote on his Facebook that day, "Professor Jeon Wooyong, losing newspaper columns and being removed from broadcasts due to participating in the Jo Guk White Paper is not damage but your choice."

He pointed out, "If you cannot endure the consequences of your choice, don't act pretentious and make that choice. When you make a political choice publicly, you are regarded not as a scholar but as a politician, so you should have expected such changes in your public profile according to media neutrality."

He continued, "I fully accept and act upon such changes due to political choices. I have not written newspaper columns for a long time because I am regarded as an opposition politician, and I can only appear on broadcasts as an opposition panelist," he added.

Also, Professor Kim mocked Jeon, saying, "Did you volunteer to be at the forefront of the Jo Guk defense squad without even knowing that much? What is the claim of unfair dismissal when you clearly know the guest professor regulation of a one-year contract with one possible extension? I feel sorry for Jeong Cheong-rae, a Democratic Party member, who was embarrassed after questioning based solely on Professor Jeon's absurd claims at the National Assembly audit."

He then criticized, "(Jeon) received full treatment as a guest professor according to the regulations but is falsely claiming he was dismissed," adding, "The double standards and hypocrisy of false progressives remain unchanged."

Earlier, on the 13th, Jeon expressed on his Facebook, "The difficulties I face just because I am a contributor to the Jo Guk White Paper are numerous."

He said, "I was appointed in June 2018. The fact that I participated as a contributor to the 'Jo Guk White Paper' was revealed in November 2019. Immediately after that, I was removed from the Kyunghyang Shinmun column I wrote monthly for eight years, the Hankyoreh column I wrote weekly for five years, and the YTN program I appeared on weekly for five years," adding, "After participating as a contributor to the Jo Guk White Paper, the path ahead of me has been full of thorns."
