GS Home Shopping Announces Results of 'Social Impact Project 3rd Term'

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] GS Home Shopping announced on the 14th that it will hold an online performance sharing event for the 3rd Social Impact Project, which supports social ventures, for one week.

The Social Impact Project is a social contribution activity by GS Home Shopping that helps social ventures in the startup phase of social enterprises, first launched in 2017. It focuses on discovering and nurturing social innovation startup teams in the manufacturing sector that solve social problems through business to realize better social value, and is operated in collaboration with Underdogs and the Korea Social Investment Foundation.

The 10 teams selected for the 3rd term received practical startup lectures and one-on-one customized business coaching from May to September this year. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, all startup education and the awards ceremony were conducted online. The performance sharing event, which concludes the project and shares the achievements so far, was also held online, and an online booth introducing the 10 teams and their products was set up on the homepage so that more customers could view it.

At the online awards ceremony on the 7th, one grand prize team and two excellence award teams were selected through product idea evaluations of the 10 teams. The grand prize winner, ‘Teukbyeolhan Saramdeul’ (Special People), proposed air fresheners and frames using natural moss that can prevent environmental pollution caused by indiscriminate production of interior accessories. They also presented a business model that continuously creates jobs for young people with disabilities and single mothers. The excellence awards went to ‘Diamantista,’ which proposed eco-friendly jewelry, and ‘Totu Company,’ which planned sanitary pads to solve environmental pollution problems and create jobs for women with career interruptions.

Meanwhile, various social network service (SNS) events are being held for customers who visit the online booth on the homepage. Customers who write about the product they want most and the reason on the Social Impact Project Facebook page or promote the project and products on their own SNS channels will receive coffee coupons, chicken coupons, and Social Impact Project products as gifts.
