[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The iPhone 12 series will be released in four models. We compared what has changed from the iPhone 11 series.
The iPhone 12 series is divided into four models based on screen size and specifications: ▲5.4-inch iPhone 12 Mini ▲6.1-inch iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro ▲6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 and Mini feature aluminum and glass materials on the exterior, while the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max use stainless steel and glass materials.
The iPhone 11 series consists of ▲6.1-inch iPhone 11 ▲5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro ▲6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 Mini is smaller overall than the iPhone 6 (4.7 inches) or iPhone SE but has a larger screen. The iPhone 12 is larger than the iPhone 11 Pro, and the same size as the iPhone 12 Pro but 15g lighter. The iPhone 12 Pro is smaller than the iPhone 11, larger than the iPhone 11 Pro, and the same size as the iPhone 12 but 15g heavier. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is larger than the iPhone 11 Pro Max but weighs the same.
All four models of the iPhone 12 series are equipped with Super Retina XDR displays. The pixel count is doubled compared to the previous generation, and the maximum brightness is also improved twofold. Although there were rumors that the display would support a 120Hz refresh rate, it was not implemented. Like the iPhone 11 series, the iPhone 12 supports 60Hz.
Camera performance has been improved with larger image sensors and zoom capabilities. The iPhone 12 features a 12-megapixel dual camera. Low-light performance for photos and videos has improved by 27%. The iPhone 12 Pro has a 2x optical zoom, the same as its predecessor, but the iPhone 12 Pro Max supports 2.5x optical zoom and has a longer telephoto lens focal length. The iPhone 12 Pro also supports Night mode for portrait photos.
Domestic launch prices have slightly decreased compared to the previous generation due to the addition of the 'Mini' model, and the prices of the two Pro models have been reduced by 40,000 to 60,000 KRW. The domestic retail prices start at ▲iPhone 12 Mini 950,000 KRW ▲iPhone 12 1,090,000 KRW ▲iPhone 12 Pro 1,350,000 KRW ▲iPhone 12 Pro Max 1,490,000 KRW. The iPhone 11 was launched at 990,000 KRW, the iPhone 11 Pro at 1,390,000 KRW, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max at 1,550,000 KRW.
In South Korea, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will officially launch on the 30th of this month, with pre-orders starting on the 23rd. The iPhone 12 Mini and Pro Max are scheduled to be released in the U.S. and other countries on the 6th of next month, with the domestic release date yet to be determined.
