Lotte Homeshopping, '5th Small and Individual PP Production Support Contest' Awards Ceremony

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Homeshopping held the award ceremony for the "5th Small and Individual PP Production Support Contest," co-hosted with the Korean Society for Journalism and Communication Studies, at the Korea Press Center on the 14th.

The event was attended by key figures including Lotte Homeshopping CEO Iwanshin, Democratic Party lawmaker Byeon Jaeil, and Korean Society for Journalism and Communication Studies President Kim Chunsik. As a result of the judging, a total of seven small and individual PPs (Broadcast Channel Usage Business Operators), including Filcon Media, which was selected as an outstanding work, received production support funds and plaques. Additionally, an award ceremony was held for the university student video contest conducted under the theme of "Production of Public Interest Live Commerce Videos," with prize money and plaques awarded to a total of 33 teams.

Lotte Homeshopping has been the only company in the industry to implement the "Small and Individual PP Production Support Project" since 2017 to contribute to the development of the broadcasting production industry by fostering small and individual PPs. So far, over five rounds, approximately 2 billion KRW has been provided to 32 small and individual PPs. Especially this year, due to the increasingly difficult production environment caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the support fund was increased from 300 million KRW to 500 million KRW annually, and a video production contest for university students was also held to promote small business products affected by COVID-19.

As a result of applications from a total of 16 companies, seven final works were selected as outstanding through expert evaluations on program public interest, creativity, production capability, and completeness, including Filcon Media & Hobby Life's "UHD Special Project Youth Kkondae" (1st place, prize money 60 million KRW) and Korea Private Broadcasting Association & 9COLORS' "Interview Show New Normal, Conditions of the Future" (2nd place, prize money 50 million KRW).

The university student video contest, held for the first time this year, saw participation from 64 teams, with a total of 33 teams awarded, including Jeonnam National University’s Moon Gyubi and two others for producing the promotional video for "iLiving Airtight Containers" (Grand Prize, prize money 8 million KRW). The selected videos will be broadcast through small and individual PPs.

CEO Iwanshin of Lotte Homeshopping stated, "We recognize the importance of fostering small and individual PPs for the development of the broadcasting production industry and have been continuously implementing the 'Small and Individual PP Production Support Project.' Starting this year, we expanded the support funds and launched a university student video contest to promote small business products, broadening the scope of support. We plan to continue developing practical win-win programs to enhance the competitiveness of small and individual PPs."

Meanwhile, since 2007, Lotte Homeshopping has been engaged in activities such as drama script contests, one-person creator training, and documentary production support in cooperation with the Broadcasting Content Promotion Foundation to foster growth in the broadcasting industry. Since 2011, it has also contributed to nurturing content experts by establishing the BCPF Content School, providing practical education in broadcasting content production for youth and marginalized groups nationwide.
