Recruitment of Residents for Gangdong-gu 'Ansimgadeuk Senior Support Housing'

Recruitment of Residents for Elderly Support Housing from 13th to 20th... Public Rental Housing Combining Housing Welfare and Care Services for Low-Income Elderly in Need of Care

Recruitment of Residents for Gangdong-gu 'Ansimgadeuk Senior Support Housing'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is recruiting residents for the 'Safe and Full Elderly Support Housing,' where low-income elderly people in need of care can live in their own affordable residential spaces and receive various welfare services, from the 13th to the 20th.

The elderly support housing supplied by Seoul City is a public rental housing combining residential welfare and care services. Residential coordinators (social workers) assist with move-in consultations, resident settlement, housing maintenance, welfare service support, and health management support such as accompanying residents to hospitals, providing care services tailored to each resident's characteristics.

Additionally, the elderly support housing is equipped with convenience facilities for seniors with mobility difficulties. Door widths of rooms and bathrooms have been widened for easy wheelchair access, bathroom floors have been raised to eliminate slopes, and non-slip finishing materials are used, with safety devices installed throughout.

The Gangdong-gu housing supply consists of 11 rental units located in Gildong. Eligible applicants are non-homeowners aged 65 or older residing in Gangdong-gu as of the recruitment announcement date (September 25, 2020), diagnosed with senile diseases, and either classified as long-term care cognitive support grade under the Enforcement Decree of the Long-Term Care Insurance Act or ungraded but requiring support services due to restrictions in daily life.

Applicants wishing to move in can visit their local community service center from the 13th to the 20th to submit an application form and a life plan. Residents are finally selected through an evaluation of income, assets, and service needs (urgency of life plan and housing maintenance support services).

The initial lease period for elderly support housing is two years, with the possibility of renewal every two years if eligibility is maintained, allowing a maximum residence period of 20 years. The rental deposit is 19.91 million KRW, and the average monthly rent is 260,000 KRW. Single occupancy or shared living is possible upon request.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “Elderly support housing is a customized residential space for seniors who need various welfare services while living independently,” and added, “I hope that seniors who truly need elderly support housing will move in and spend their later years comfortably without worries about care.”
