[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Choi-hyunju] Jo Geun-je, the mayor of Haman County, conducted an on-site inspection on the 13th with county officials and pig farmers to maintain the clean zone free from African Swine Fever (ASF).

Mayor Jo personally toured the key disinfection facilities at the quarantine site and encouraged officials and others involved, strongly expressing his determination to protect the area.

The Haman Agricultural Technology Center sent an urgent notice to local pig farms and livestock organizations following the recent outbreak of African Swine Fever at two pig farms in Hwacheon City, Gangwon Province, since its initial occurrence in September last year.

They urged daily disinfection inside and outside the livestock barns, management of foreign workers, and blocking access of wild boars to farms using various promotional media.

Haman County has maintained its status as an ASF-free clean zone to date. There are a total of 33 pig farms, with a breeding scale reaching approximately 88,911 pigs.

Haman County disinfects all livestock-related vehicles and personnel entering pig farms at the 24-hour operating Haman County key disinfection facility, strictly enforcing quarantine rules such as verifying disinfection certificates and focusing on thorough preventive measures and prior surveillance.

Mayor Jo said, “Thanks to everyone's efforts, Haman County has maintained a safe clean zone free from malignant disaster-type livestock infectious diseases such as African Swine Fever,” adding, “The best way to prevent all disasters is thorough prevention, so please remain vigilant and focus on blocking livestock infectious diseases until the very end.”
